PHOENIX (AP) - A $500,000 bond has been set for the mother of a Glendale girl who's been missing for nearly a year.
Jerice Hunter was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder and child abuse.
The 38-year-old Hunter was indicted earlier in the day by a Maricopa County grand jury, even though the body of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley hasn't been found.
Hunter's lawyer says his client maintains her innocence.
Prosecutors said Friday that Hunter is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 13 on the charges.
Police believe Shockley's body was disposed of days before Hunter reported her missing Oct. 11.
A 96-day search at a Phoenix-area landfill ended in late June without finding the girl's remains.
Authorities say Hunter previously served time in a California prison for abusing her older children.
