TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A woman is dead after she succumbed to injuries obtained in a traffic accident.
Tucson Police responded to a single-vehicle traffic accident in the 3500 block of north Flowing Wells Road on Sunday, August 12, according to Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department.
Once on scene, officers discovered that a woman had been travelling at a high speed headed northbound on Flowing Wells Road when she crashed her 1998 Mitsubishi four-door vehicle after crossing oncoming traffic and striking a street light pole, a parked car and the side of an apartment building.
While investigating the cause of the crash, officers learned that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the accident, according to Widmer.
The driver was transported to a local hospital and was recovering in a long-term care facility when she was transferred to University Medical Center for complications.
Widmer says she ultimately succumbed to her injuries on Monday, August 27.
The driver's identity will not be revealed until next of kin has been notified.
