Sierra Vista (Arizona Athletics) The University of Arizona Wildcat football team opened up practice at Fort Huachuca with two practices on Thursday.

"We draw as many parallels to what these guys are doing here every day at Fort Huachuca to what we do as a team every day," head coach Rich Rodriguez aid. "Certainly, what our guys are doing is not nearly as important as to what the soldiers are doing here in protecting our freedom. I'm looking forward to Sunday when we'll have some competition on the reaction course with the staff here on post. Our guys can draw and learn from the discipline that the young men and women have here."

Thursday's first practice was a 90-minute workout in shorts, jerseys and helmets. The squad spent time in individual drills, team drills, seven-on-seven and two-minute drill. It was a strong day offensively, moving the ball well during two-minute drill. The special teams units also saw some game-like situations.

The Cats are spending part of the fall camp for the fifth-straight season at Fort Huachuca. The team arrived Wednesday evening for a Welcome Dinner. Practices will be held Thursday-Saturday with a scrimmage planned for Saturday night. The trip will conclude Sunday with the Leadership Reaction Course before heading back to Tucson.
