TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Survivors of the Jan. 8th shooting are taking action to urge presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama to develop a plan to prevent future murders caused by gun violence.
Injured victims of the Jan. 8th shootings created the Demand a Plan petition that tracks how many Americans have been murdered by guns since the Aurora, Colorado shooting.
Survivors joined forces to create the online petition as a way to challenge presidential incumbent Barack Obama and presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney to devise a plan that puts an end to gun violence and mass killings.
The petition was developed after the Aurora, Colorado shooting sparked a discourse among the survivors about what can be done to reduce mass murders caused by guns.
According to the petition's website, the words of condolences expressed by both candidates are not enough.
The site goes on to say, "what we need from our nation's leaders is more than just a moments of silence."
People can take part in the petition by visiting DemandAPlan.org and filling in their name, email address and zip code.
