Police arrest pool pump thieves

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police arrested three people responsible for stealing pool pumps from the backyards of residents on the eastside, according to Sgt. Maria Hawke with Tucson Police.
Hawke tells KGUN9 that Brett Geraci, 35, Joshua Wellner, 24 and Roger Crace, 36, were arrested July 26, and were in possession of eight stolen pumps.
Police have confirmed 56 cases of stolen pumps, but they believe additional victims are out there and have not come forward to report the theft.
The pumps and parts can be used for profit because of the metal materials they are made of, Hawke says.
Police identified the metal recycling businesses that were accepting the stolen pumps, but say there is insufficient evidence to indicate that the recycling businesses committed a crime.
All three suspects were charged with multiple felony counts and booked into the Pima County Jail.
Anyone who has been a victim of a pool pump theft is encouraged to call 911 to file a police report.
