Arizona governor nixes plan for special session

PHOENIX (AP) - A spokesman for Gov. Jan Brewer says she will not call a special legislative session next week, as earlier planned.
Brewer spokesman Matthew Benson says Friday evening that legislative leaders have had a change of heart on whether to call for the session.
Lawmakers would have considered placing a new proposal on primary election changes on the state's general election ballot. The measure would allow all voters to cast votes for any primary election candidate and have only the two-top finishers advance to the general election.
Word of the special session surfaced earlier Friday, a day after backers of an initiative measure filed petitions Thursday to qualify it for the November ballot.
