TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - An 18-story building was evacuated Wednesday morning after firefighters discovered a Freon leak in the basement, according to Capt. Barrett Baker with Tucson Fire.
Reports originally came in as smoke coming from the basement of 32 N. Stone Ave., but Baker said the Freon looked like smoke.
All 18 floors were evacuated, which turned out to be five people.
Those five people were told not to return to the building, and a hazardous materials team was called in to check out the leak.
Four firefighters were sent to the hospital for nausea as a precaution.
A total of 19 units and 48 firefighters were involved in the call.
