Thunderstorms pop through southern Arizona
Meteorologist: Aaron Brackett
Thunderstorms have formed along a boundary of moist air several thousand feet above the ground. As we continue through the mid to late afternoon hours, strong thunderstorms will likely maintain their structure and move through southeastern Pima county.
Strong outflow winds will produce dusty conditions ahead of thunderstorms, especially in eastern sections of Tucson where Tuesday's storms missed the dry ground.
Behind the dust, thunderstorms that continue to develop will bring torrential rain, deadly cloud to ground lightning, and gusty winds. Small hail may also accompany the strongest of storms as well.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued from 3:15 to 3:45 Wednesday afternoon. Although this warning is no longer in effect, the pulsing nature of the storms means the threat will exist for additional development through the early evening hours.
