TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - We have such a sad story of animal abuse, but also of hope.
The horse rescue organization H.E.A.R.T. of Tucson rescued a 20 year old mare a Pima Sheriff's deputy found on vacant land the Tucson Airport Authority owns south of the airport.
Judy Glore of H.E.A.R.T. says, "She's been stuck out there for at least four or five days and no water. She's been without water. When we brought her water she just started gulping it down and we had to really ration it to her. I didn't want her to get too much and put herself into shock."
KGUN 9 On Your Side has been telling you about H.E.A.R.T. of Tucson. The organization has been rescuing horses abandoned ---probably because their owners could no longer afford to feed them.
The mare, named Ashley makes about 29 horses the organization is currently nursing back to health, in the hope someone will adopt them.
