Crews monitoring Ariz. wildfire as winds pick up
CROWN KING, Ariz. (AP) Fire officials say strong winds that will only gain strength as the day goes on are the main concern as crews battle a 24-square-mile wildfire north of Phoenix.
Authorities said firefighters were reinforcing containment lines Wednesday around the main roads while dealing with low humidity and high temperatures.
The 15,600-acre fire broke out at a home last week in Crown King. It is 26 percent contained.
Crown King and other smaller communities to the north remain under evacuation orders.
Another wildfire south of Payson has burned more than 16,000. It is 43 percent contained.
