TUCSON (KGUN9- TV) - It's an emotional time for Tucsonans, as they do what they can to help the search for missing 6-year-old Isabel Celis. Thursday, an exclusive interview shed more light on the Celis parents, and Isa's life.
Becky and Sergio Celis agreed to a public interview with The Today Show Thursday morning. It was the second time they've spoken publicly during the 13-day search for their missing daughter. In the segment, they revealed home video of their daughter never before seen by the public, giving concerned Tucsonans like Kimberly Richardson a rare glimpse of her life.
"Every moment I think about this child and any child that has ever been put in this position," she told 9 On Your Side reporter Jessica Chapin through her tears. Richardson's grand-daughter was born Monday, and she says since Isabel went missing she's felt the parents' pain.
Volunteer spokesperson Robert Rodriguez saw the interview Thursday morning.
"It's heartbreaking I mean the parents are obviously very distraught there's a lot of anguish and pain," he said, "and I think we all share the same pain and we all want Isa home."
Several people also told 9 On Your Side they want to hear more from the parents.
"That's exactly what we want to see more of," said Helen Casillas, "we want to know how they feel emotionally how they're holding up. We're praying with them, we're heartbroken for them."
"I think that helps the public know and understand how these people are grieving," said Richardson.
Rodriguez says he only wants to hear one thing.
"I'd like to hear that Isa's home," he said, "That's my biggest concern is that we find her."
The community will get another chance to hear more about Isabel Celis' story. Becky and Sergio Celis have scheduled an interview Friday with all of the local news stations.
