YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - A Yuma police officer shot a dog that was acting aggressively and had charged at the officer.
The Yuma Sun reports that the dog was later euthanized.
A woman who called authorities Sunday morning about the dog in question and another dog had said that one of the animals had snarled at her.
While approaching the two animals, an animal control officer was attacked by the aggressive dog.
When an assisting police officer arrived, the dog charged at the officer.
The officer shot the animal in the right paw as it reared up on its back legs when it was only about two feet away from him.
