TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – Five days since the disappearance of Isabel Celis, and those who know the 6-year-old say it has been five days of uncertainty, anguish and unanswered questions.
For the first time, Isabel’s parents made a public statement Wednesday afternoon in front of a throng of reporters, pleading for their daughter’s safe return.
“Please, please to the person or persons who have Isabel – tell us what you want, we will do anything,” said Sergio Celis, Isabel’s father, after noting that they have fully cooperated with police. In a news conference Wednesday night, Chief Robert Villaseñor said there has not been a demand for ransom.
Rebecca Celis, Isabel’s mother, thanked police, the community, her Little League Team and people around the world for helping in her search.
“We do not want the focus to be taken off Isabel by us being in front of the cameras or by the media. We are here today to plea for the safe return of our baby Isabel,” she said.
Isa played for the Diamondbacks on the Little League team, and friends say she was always happy.
“She’s very sweet and friend. She’s really fun to play with,” said Moe Vogt.
“She was the cutest little girl. It was hard to resist talking to her,” said Marielle Trujillo.
Volunteers said the Celis family is why they’ve been working so hard to get the word out, setting up donating boxes and handing out fliers.
“They are wonderful loving parents. Isa – we want her home. She’s a wonderful little girl. We cannot wait to celebrate her homecoming,” said family friend and volunteer Valerie Ballesceros.
And Isabel’s parents vow that until that safe homecoming, they will never relent.
“We are looking for you Isa. We love you and we miss you much. We will never give up looking for you,” her father said.
Police have let the family back into the home, but they said Isabel’s parents have chosen not to come back for personal reasons. The parents have not been ruled out as suspects; police have said the family has fully cooperated with the investigation.
