TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Pima County Sheriffs Department have located the body of a 3-month-old baby. The parents, who are believed to be responsible for the death of the child, were arrested over the weekend.
Deputy Dawn Barkman tells KGUN9 the body of the child, believed to be Vanessa, was located in a shallow grave near Toltec Road and Interstate 10 by detectives from the Homicide Unit along with members of the Southern Arizona Rescue Dogs Incorporated.
Olivia Paige Martinez, 20, and Jonathan Niles Kesterson, 26 are believed to be responsible for the death of their child, Vanessa Martinez, says Barkman.
Kesterson was apprehended in San Diego, earlier this month on unrelated charges. While being processed, deputies said he made comments to corrections staff regarding the child's death.
Investigators were notified and sent detectives to interview Kesterson.
Warrants were issued for both parents after the initial interview.
