YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Border Patrol agents working in western Arizona arrested 11 suspected smugglers and seized more than 400 pounds of marijuana.
Agents approached a group of six south of Interstate 8 Monday near Wellton and found them carrying nearly 200 pounds of marijuana.
Later, agents patrolling near Gila Bend watched a group of five traveling on foot through the desert. The Border Patrol says they were carrying large backpacks stuffed with marijuana.
The suspected smugglers and the marijuana were turned over to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
