PHOENIX (AP) The attorney for a state legislator says his client has pleaded not guilty to four charges of domestic violence.
Tucson Rep. Daniel Patterson's attorney says the lawmaker is innocent of the charges stemming from a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend.
Patterson was charged in Tucson City Court on Thursday.
Attorney Joe. St. Louis also says the woman is not credible, citing her recent arrest on drug charges.
Patterson's fellow Democrats in the House have filed an ethics complaint against him and called for his resignation.
Patterson himself has previously denied wrongdoing against the woman, who he said lived with him and helped with his re-election campaign.
