Five Wildcats recognized by Pac-12

 TUCSON, Ariz. (UA Athletics) – Five University of Arizona men’s basketball players were recognized by the Pac-12 Conference, as the league announced its postseason honors Monday.

Kyle Fogg and Solomon Hill were first-team all-conference picks, while Nick Johnson was an all-freshman selection.  Jesse Perry was an honorable mention all-conference honoree, while Josiah Turner was tabbed honorable mention all-freshman.  Additionally, Fogg was a selected to the all-defensive team.

A 6-foot-3, 188-pound senior guard from Brea, Calif., Fogg leads Arizona with a 13.5 points per game average and in three-point field goals (64), free throws (106) and steals (33).  In 31 appearances (30 starts), he is averaging 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He has scored in double figures 22 times, posted six 20-point games and collected two double-doubles.

It marks the first time in his career that Fogg has been an all-conference selection.  He was an honorable mention all-freshman pick in in 2009 and an honorable mention all-defensive team selection in 2011.

A 6-foot-6, 226-pound junior forward from Los Angeles, Calif., Hill leads Arizona with a 7.8 rebounds per game average and in field goal percentage (.500) and assists (84).  In 31 appearances (all starts), he is averaging 12.4 points and 2.7 assists per game. He has scored in double figures a team-leading 23 times, posted 10 double-doubles and two 20-point games.

It marks the first time in his career that Hill has been an all-conference selection.  Along with Fogg, Hill’s inclusion on the all-Pac-12 Conference first team marks the 58th time an Arizona player has earned all-conference honors since the school joined the league in 1978-79.

A 6-foot-2, 198-pound guard from Gilbert, Ariz., Johnson averages 9.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 31 appearances.  He’s scored in double figures 13 times in 2011-12, including a high of 20 points on Feb. 18 at Washington.

Johnson is the 22nd Wildcat to earn conference all-freshman honors since 1981-81.

Arizona (21-10, 12-6 Pac-10) will next be in action on Thursday, March 8, at the 2012 Pacific Life Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament. The fourth-seeded Wildcats face either No. 5 seed UCLA or No. 12 seed USC at 2:40 p.m. PST. The game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net.
