1 student injured after truck, bus collide in Goodyear

CREATED Nov. 5, 2013

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a school bus collided with a pickup truck in Goodyear, but only one student has been injured along with both drivers.

Goodyear Fire Department officials say 14 students were aboard the bus at the time of Tuesday's 4 p.m. accident at the intersection of Van Buren Street and Estrella Parkway.

They say a 12-year-old student and the bus driver were taken to a hospital as a precaution. The remaining 12 students were being picked up by their parents.

Authorities say the driver of the flatbed pickup truck was transported to a Phoenix hospital with serious injuries.

Television footage showed the truck with heavy damage.

Authorities say it appears the pickup hit the bus near its rear wheels. It'll be up to police investigators to determine the crash's cause.
