Kip Moore wants to play to faces, not cellphones

Kip Moore is annoyed. He wants fans to know that it's time to put away their cellphones and starting watching his shows live-and-in-person, instead of through a camera lens!

"It’s upsetting that people have lost the ability to live in the moment, and I think it’s only gonna get worse and worse,” Kip said at a recent press event (quote via Country Weekly). "There’s some times in a show when I’ll go sing right to somebody face to face, and they'll waste the whole 10 seconds trying to get their phone out of their pocket, and by the time they finally look up, I'm gone. It’s like, 'Dude, put the phone down and just enjoy what's going on right now,' you know?"

Kip's not the only one who has expressed his displeasure with fans and their preoccupation with capturing video via their phones. Earlier this year, Sheryl Crow noted that having people watch her shows through their cell phones is "annoying."

"I think that every artist I've talked to would agree with the fact that it is not nearly as much fun to play to peoples' cameras instead of to their eyes," she said. "I'm constantly encouraging people to put their phones away while I'm playing. 'Get your shots early and let's put our gadgets away,' but it seems to fall on deaf ears. I'm working on some technology right now that's gonna enable people to walk out with a show and hopefully encourage people to put their gadgets away."
