The final stop on George Strait’s Cowboy Rides Away tour at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, sold out within hours of tickets going on sale Friday (Dec. 6). The show, set for June 7, 2014, will have more than 100,000 concertgoers in attendance.
Grammy-winning Western swing group Asleep at the Wheel will open for King George and country superstars Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Lee Ann Womack will perform three songs each.
"Wow. To see this response from the fans to our final show is humbling and exciting at the same time," says George, who will perform a full set of his iconic hits during the show. "This is going to be an incredible night and I feel very blessed this holiday knowing how many of you we'll get to see next year on our final tour."
As he has done in the past, the Country Music Hall of Fame member will be auctioning off two pairs of front row seats plus meet-and-greet passes to each show on the trek. Proceeds will benefit the Jenifer Strait Foundation, which focuses its donations on various children's charities including Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio and St. Jude's Ranch.
