By Matthew Harding. CREATED Mar 2, 2014

The winter storm that brought freezing drizzle to the area Saturday, is producing sleet and snow this morning.

Much of the eastern half of Kansas remains under a winter storm warning through the daylight hours today for accumulating sleet and snow. Wichita is still forecast to get up to four inches of sleet and snow, before ending tonight.

Travel conditions across the area is slick and hazardous this morning, with KDOT crews reporting many highways as being completely snowpacked and icy. Road conditions are not expected to get better today, as temperatures are forecasted to loiter in the single digits.

After the precipitation ends tonight, attention will turn to the bitter cold. Many areas of Kansas have wind chill advisories in effect for dangerously cold wind chills of  15 to 25 below zero that is forecast for Monday morning. The forecast low in Wichita tonight is -5, which would be a record.
