Wichita restaurant operators accused of hiring illegal aliens
A husband and wife who operate a west Wichita restaurant have been arrested and charged with hiring undocumented workers.
Yong "Tony" Lin, 33, and his wife, Zhuo Mei "Mandy" Weng, 29, were arrested Tuesday by Homeland Security agents on warrants issued in connection with a federal indictment. They operate the World Buffet Grill at 21st and Ridge Road.
The U.S. Attorney's office issued a statement on the indictment, which accuses Lin and Weng of paying employees in cash and failing to withhold taxes and Social Security. They're also accused of failing to maintain unemployment and workers compensation insurance, and failing to complete and maintain employment eligibility authoriziation forms, known as I-9 forms.
Lin and Weng are scheduled for an initial appearance in federal court at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday
