WPD announces new deputy chiefs
The Wichita Police Department has announced the promotions of two captains to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police.
Captain Hassan Ramzah has been with the police department since July, 1990 after serving in the United States Army. He has served as a detective, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. He has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southwestern University, and a masters from Wichita State University.
Captain John Speer joined the WPD in August, 1987, after serving in the United States Army. He graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1987, and he has served as a narcotics detective, a sergeant, lieutenant and captain. He was among one of the first members of the police department's SCAT (Special Community Action Team).
