Tremors felt in Wichita after Oklahoma earthquakes
9:45 Sunday Morning Update: The US Geological Survey says a magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook the Crescent, OK area around 9:15 this morning. The quake was felt across northern Oklahoma and in the Wichita area.
No damage or injuries were reported.
Original Story: Many Wichita residents felt tremors and heard windows rattle as they tried to sleep.
The US Geological Survey reported three seperate earthquakes early this morning. The first, magnitude 3.5, occurred at 1:37 a.m.
The strongest of the three quakes, magnitude 4.3, occurred at 1:51 a.m.
The third, magnitude 3.3, occurred at 1:59 a.m.
The epicenters for the quakes were near Crescent, Oklahoma, a little over 130 miles south of Wichita.
UPDATE: The USGS has reported three more earthquakes near the same area at 3:07 a.m., 3:10 a.m. and 3:42 a.m. Of those three, the strongest was a magnitude 4.3.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
