SALINA, Kan. (AP) Strong storms in northwest Kansas knocked out power to several communities and damaged irrigation equipment and wheat crops.

The Salina Journal reports Midwest Energy had 1,760 customers who were still without power Sunday as the result of Saturday's storms. Atwood and a corridor along Interstate 70 to the Bird City area were among those towns losing power.

A Cheyenne County dispatcher says electricity had been knocked out overnight in St. Francis but was back on. Area farmers reported irrigation equipment being toppled by high winds and wheat crops sustaining scattered hail damage.

A sheriff's dispatcher in Rawlins County says there were reports of downed trees and power lines throughout the county but no major damage.
