Roberts/Wolf Campaign Recap:
It was a hard-fought, sometimes contentious race between incumbent Senator Pat Roberts and challenger Dr. Milton Wolf.
From challenges to Roberts eligibility to run based on residency to a medical ethics investigation into Facebook posts by Dr. Wolf, the campaign seemed to be neck and neck leading up to Tuesday night. In the end, Senator Pat Roberts beat his challenger Milton Wolf 48.1% to 40.8%.
Wolf's campaign still had a strong showing, beating Roberts soundly in Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Miami counties, and narrowly in Johnson County. In Wyandotte, Wolf carried 49.6% of the vote to Roberts 39.7%.
In nearby Leavenworth, Wolf took 51.5% of the vote to Roberts 39.7%. In Miami County, Wolf had 49% of the vote compared to Roberts 35.6%. The margin was much tighter in his home county of Johnson, where Wolf beat Roberts by just 147 votes, 45.7% to to 45.4%.
Roberts will go on to face Democratic challenger Chad Taylor in the November general election.
