KHP trooper recovering after Turnpike crash
A KHP trooper is expected to be OK after being rear-ended during a traffic stop.
The trooper had pulled onto the shoulder of I-35 near Webb to inspect a semi. Wile on the shoulder, another driver drifted over and hit the trooper's car, pushing it into the back of the semi. The trooper was taken to a hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries. The driver who rear-ended the trooper was also taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
Northbound traffic was closed for several hours while a special team worked to reconstruct the crash, investigating what caused the driver to drift onto the shoulder. The team is called in to investigate whenever there's a wreck involving a trooper. It's not clear yet what caused the driver to move onto the shoulder.
