Jury selection is underway in the case involving the man accused of shooting a Butler County deputy.

Jan Tracy Kilbourne is charged with attempted capital murder in connection with the shooting of Jacob Lawrence during a traffic stop on Labor Day.

Kilbourne is also facing charges of criminal possession of a firearm and interference with law enforcement.

After the shooting, a four day manhunt for Kilbourne began. It included 3 counties: Butler, Sedgwick and Cowley. It ended in a residential neighborhood in Wichita, and Kilbourne was arrested.

If convicted, the capital murder charge carries 12 to 54 year prison sentence.
