Roads and highways deteriorating in heavy snow

CREATED Feb. 4, 2014
Travel conditions are deteriorating as heavy snow continues to fall and blanket the area.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is discouraging travel between Hutchinson and Wichita on K-96 due to near white out conditions along the route.

Visibility is reduced on several area highways. Snow fall totals have accumulated, and fast - anywhere from 2 inches to over 6 inches of snow has fallen. In Wichita, .just over 4 inches has fallen.

By the end of today, we could see between 6 to 8 inches. The winter storm watch continues until midnight.

Cancellations continue to come in. To see all the cancellations , or let people know about your cancellation, head to http://www.kfdi.com/articles/113098914.html

Also, the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan (EARP) is in effect in Wichita. Non-injury accidents should be reported to substations.

Several flights have been cancelled out of Mid-Continent Aiport. If you have a flight out, or are picking someone up, be sure to check your flight status.
