Fundraiser for family of fallen police officer offers chance to win car

By Nicolas Wahl. CREATED Jul 24, 2014

Wichita Police Department wives and Eddy's Toyota are teaming up to help out the family of police officer Shane Little who died earlier this summer.

Event organizer Carrie Patton of Wives Backing the Badge said that by donating, folks can earn raffle tickets for a chance to win a new 2014 Toyota Camry on behalf of the car dealership.

"You have a chance to win a brand new car, plus helping this family out," Patton said. "The Little's are an awesome family. It's going to benefit them for a long, long time, and that's the real goal."

Little died earlier this summer after an accident at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. In passing, Little left behind his wife, Officer Amanda Little, and four young children. He was a member of the Wichita police department and a SWAT team member.

His tragic death wasn't the first bout with difficulty suffered by Little and his family. In 2011 he contracted bacterial meningitis and nearly lost his life, losing all sight in his right eye, and nearly 70 percent of sight in his left eye.

"The people of Wichita have already helped us so much anyway," said Scotty Little, Shane's father. "We just want to continue that effort. Shane, (Amanda) have four little children under the age of nine. Anything we can do to help their growth and development, just help them in the community."

Donations of a suggested $100 will allow givers entry to the raffle for the car through August when a celebration of Little's life and the raffle will be held. The car is valued at $25,000, and those in the raffle need not be present to win.

Raffle tickets are available through August 2, when there will be a celebration at the dealership and raffle winner announced. Tickets may be purchased at the Wichita Gun Club at 438 S. Rock Road, The Wichita Thunder Office at 505 W. Maple, or by phone at 316-264-4625.
