Police jail Ark City man after bar fight

Arkansas City Police were called early Monday morning to break up a fight at a bar.

Michael Griffin Jr. was angry and violent after being asked to step outside to smoke. He was so upset he began yelling and swearing at other patrons - even grabbing pool balls to threaten them.

A bartender stepped in and got Griffin to put the pool balls down, but when the bartender turned around he was hit from behind by Griffin. Angry patrons chased Griffin from the bar.

When police arrived, they were pointed down an alley where Griffin had fled. He was found hiding in some tall grass and taken into custody. He was taken to jail after refusing to comply with officers.

The bartender had a few minor scrapes and a broken tooth. Nobody else in the bar was hurt. Griffin is being held on charges of assault, battery, theft and disorderly conduct.
