Gas prices continue to soar in Wichita

The price of gasoline nears $4.00 range in Wichita.
Unplanned and planned shutdowns of oil refineries in Oklahoma, where Wichita gets its fuel caused a spike in gasoline prices to $3.79 Thursday morning. Issues similar to this are happening even in Chicago, Illinois.
In Topeka, Triple-A Kansas spokesman Jim Hanni, predicts the high gasoline prices will begin to drop after the Memorial Day Holiday. He said Wichita reacts to higher prices a lot quicker with few major retailers in the Wichita area.
Hanni said oil refineries are still switching from a winter to a summer blend of fuel. He added the fundamentals are still in our favor because oil production is up and demand is lower than it was a year ago.
