Wichita police are investigating an accident that sent a 15-year-old boy to the hospital Thursday. It happened at Edgemoor and Bayley, at Southeast High School.
Police sergeant Bruce Watts said students were leaving the school on a lunch break around 11:30 a.m., and one student ran east into the street, and into the path of a southbound SUV. Watts said the teen was about 30 feet south of a crosswalk at the school.
The student went to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the SUV, a man in his 30's, was not hurt. Police blocked a section of Edgemoor on the east side of the Southeast campus as they investigated the accident.
