Dierks Bentley has just released his latest single, "Drunk on a Plane," and if catchiness is any indication, it's likely to rack up some frequent flyer miles. (Watch a live performance of the song above.)
Written by Dierks with Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, it tells the tale of a groom left waiting at the altar who decides to take a solo flight to Cancun -- since he couldn't get his money back on the honeymoon airline ticket. Talk about putting the "fun" in non-refundable!
"I have never been jilted at the altar, but I have had a marriage proposal rejected," says Dierks. "All you can do is pray there's a good return policy for the ring, get drunk and carry on. Whether I have the band with me on stage or it’s just me and my guitar, the fans love this song, and they catch on to the choruses immediately. It's a fun song, but when you really listen, there's also an underlying lonesomeness which is what makes it different than a lot of the other uptempo songs I've put out."

"Drunk on a Plane" is the follow-up to the No. 1 "I Hold On." Dierks is getting ready for the Riser tour, which begins May 9 in Charlotte, N.C. See a list of his tour dates here.
