After an entertainment reporter awkwardly mistakes Samuel L. Jackson for Laurence Fishburne early in an interview, Jackson goes off on him in a more or less good natured rant that effectively prevents the reporter from getting in another word, other than a few profuse apologies.
“We don’t all look alike,” an unsmiling Jackson tells the KTLA reporter, who slaps himself in the face. “We may be all black and famous, but we don’t all look alike.” He also told the reporter, “There must be a short line for your job.”
When the reporter tries to get the interview back on track, Jackson shuts him down with an “Aw, hell no.” He then launches into a well-informed litany of all the “black guys” doing TV commercials, and explains, “I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet’ black guy" before referencing the movie he was there to promote, saying, “I’m the only black guy in ‘Robocop’ that’s not a criminal.”
Not quite finished with the reporter, Jackson added, “I’ve actually never done a McDonalds or a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial. I know that’s surprising.”
