Sochi is heating up, literally

As the competition heats up at the Winter Games so does the temperature. Feeling more like the Summer Games, Thursday is expected to bring the warmest day at 63 F (17 C).

American skiier Stacey Cook said, "It was pretty warm snow and I don't think I adapted to it well -- it slides under your ski more," reports the Huffington Post

Skiers are allegedly "putting snow in their racing suits to cool down" and jumpers are "landing in puddles." Coordinators for the Winter Games are harboring snow to continue the competition.

"At the RusSki Gorki Jumping Center, organizers canceled the first of three jumps after sunny skies and 15 C (59 F) temperatures softened the snow in the landing area. The second session was postponed after an official said the first competitor fell while landing," further reports the Huffington Post. "When training resumed, only 38 of 55 starters made jumps in each of the two rounds."

Will soaring temperatures sabotage the rest of the snow-dependent competitions?
