TULSA (KFAQ) - Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris has announced he will not seek re-election in 2014.
“After much prayer and reflection I have decided not to run for another four-year term as Tulsa County District Attorney, therefore my term will end Dec 31, 2014,” Harris said. “It has been a challenging and gratifying experience to represent the people of Tulsa County over the last 27 years as a prosecutor and 15 years as your elected DA.”
“I am putting together an exploratory team to assist me in vetting my future opportunities in public service, law, business, education and ministry. I will take my passion for people, justice and righteousness into the next chapter of my servant leadership.
“I deeply appreciate the trust and support the people of Tulsa County have shown me during my tenure as DA. I am excited when I consider what new possibilities and challenges await my future commitment,” Harris said.
“During my career I have known and understood that Tulsa County deserves and expects the District Attorney to serve as a voice for victims, who can exercise discretion and make decisions that minimize crime in our community. Making decisions based on the facts, evidence and the law is the bedrock of our DA’s office and is a skill developed over time and through experience.
“I humbly want to thank the citizens of Tulsa County for allowing me to serve them by protecting and fighting for public safety through the firm but fair prosecution of crime,” Harris said.
