TULSA (KFAQ) - A toddler was found wandering around a north Tulsa neighborhood overnight and is now in protective custody at the Laura Dester Shelter.

Police say the girl is about 18-months to two-years-old.   A woman called them saying she found her wandering around 600 East 55th Place North at 11:30 p.m. Monday night.   She took a picture of the baby and tried to canvas the neighborhood with it, but no one recognized the little girl.

Officers later received a call from a woman in the area of 8900 E. 33rd Place. She told officers she was the mother of the found 19 month old. The mother said she didn’t know her child was missing until she saw the child’s photo on the news. The woman told officers she left the child with a female friend who was being used as a babysitter sometime yesterday.

Officials say the baby showed no visible signs of abuse.
