NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is defending his offense and quarterback Blake Bell after a lopsided loss at Baylor.
Stoops said Monday "there's blame to go around to everybody" for the Sooners' woeful offensive performance in the 41-12 loss last Thursday to the fifth-ranked Bears that effectively knocked his team out of the Big 12 title race.
Oklahoma managed only 237 yards of offense and failed to effectively move the football, particularly in the first half. Stoops says he approved his team's offensive game plan.
Stoops says the Sooners' quarterback play has been "inconsistent" but says Bell will remain the starter when No. 22 Oklahoma (7-2, 4-2 Big 12) hosts Iowa State (1-8, 0-6) on Saturday. Stoops says he feels good about the direction Oklahoma's program is headed.
