Claremore church destroyed by fire
CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) - Firefighters in Claremore say Christ Presbyterian Church in the city has been destroyed by fire.
Claremore Fire Chief Sean Douglas told reporters that the fire was reported about 10 p.m. Saturday and that firefighters were still on the scene Sunday to watch for potential re-ignition of the flames.
Douglas says one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion from battling the fire.
Douglas said the cause of the fire was not immediately known. He said it may be some time before investigators can determine the cause because part of the building had collapsed and other parts were in danger of collapsing - preventing investigators from entering the building.
Officials say the two-story church was built in the early 1900s.
