AG says Va. Court ruling supports his case
Attorney General Scott Pruitt
MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt says a decision by a Virginia-based federal appeals court supports his challenge to the nation's health care overhaul law.
The case decided by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond involved whether Liberty University has standing to sue the federal government over the health care mandate and whether the Anti-Injunction Act applied to the case. Oklahoma has argued the same issues in a lawsuit filed federal court in Muskogee.
The federal judges unanimously ruled Liberty University has standing to sue and that the AIA did not apply.
Pruitt filed legal papers in U.S. District Court in Muskogee Friday citing the ruling. U.S. District Judge Ronald White has said he will rule soon.
