Okfuskee County deputy shoots, kills man
PADEN, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says its agents have been asked to look into the deadly shooting of a man by an Okfuskee County deputy sheriff who was responding to a domestic dispute call.
The OSBI says the deputy had gone to a home in Paden about 3 a.m. Sunday when a man who was not involved in the dispute approached the deputy with a shotgun.
Investigators say the man ignored the deputy's orders to drop the weapon and was shot and killed when he turned toward the deputy with the shotgun.
The dead man is identified as 48-year-old Curtis Flipps. The deputy's name was not immediately released.
The OSBI says its report will be given to the local prosecuting attorney to determine whether the shooing is justified.
