Hilberling sentenced

CREATED Apr 23, 2013

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A judge has ordered a 25-year-prison sentence for a woman convicted of second-degree murder by shoving her husband to his death through a 25th-floor apartment window.

Tuesday's sentence gives Amber Hilberling credit for 15 months she's already been locked up, but she'll have to serve 85 percent of her time before she's considered for early release. That will put her in prison for 21 years, 3 months.

The sentenced matched the jury's recommendation of a 25-year term. The judge didn't attach any probation after the sentence. A pre-sentence report found that the community would not benefit by Hilberling being placed on probation.

She was convicted in the 2011 death of 23-year-old Joshua Hilberling.

Amber Hilberling argued the death was a tragic accident that was caused, in part, by too-thin windows.
