OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The U.S. Geological Survey says a small earthquake has been recorded in the Oklahoma City metro area.

The 3.5-magnitude quake was recorded shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday one mile southwest of Nicoma Park, about six miles east of Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma County Sheriff's spokesman Mark Myers says there were no reports of damage or injuries. Sgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department says police also received no reports of damage or injuries.

Geologists say magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 earthquakes are generally the smallest that people can feel. The strongest earthquake on record in the state struck on Nov. 5, 2011, when a 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook central Oklahoma. The previous most powerful quake was a magnitude 5.5 near El Reno in 1952.
