Court upholds Oklahoma stepmother's murder conviction
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the murder conviction and life sentence of a woman convicted of killing her 15-month-old stepson.
The court on Wednesday rejected several appeals by 30-year-old Shiloh Marie Brafford of Broken Arrow.
Brafford's claims included ineffective counsel, violation of due process rights, improper jury instructions, and improper admission of testimony and of photographs of the toddler while he was hospitalized.
The appeals court rejected each of the claims.
Brafford was convicted in 2011 of the July 2008 death of Davis Ryan Brafford due to head injuries. Brafford told police that the child fell and hit his head.
