Fort Gibson drowning
FORT GIBSON, Okla. (AP) Authorities say the body of a Locust Grove man who went missing at Fort Gibson Lake has been recovered.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Jimmie Ray Barnett was retrieved late Sunday after friends saw his body resurface.
Troopers say Barnett had jumped from a pontoon boat that was adrift in the lake near Fun Island in Mayes County and had trouble getting back aboard the vessel about midnight Friday. Crews looked for him on Saturday and Sunday, and stopped Sunday night with the intent of resuming their search early Monday.
Friends saw his body resurface about 11:30 p.m. and alerted authorities, who returned and recovered his body.
Troopers say a personal flotation device wasn't in use.
