At least 10 ambulances were dispatched in response to a bus crash near Chicago's O'Hare International Airport early this morning.

According to initial reports, it happened about 6:30 a.m. near Bessie Coleman Drive and Interstate 190. Officials say that a shuttle bus struck a median.

Some passengers could be seen lying on a sidewalk after the crash, being attended by police officers and fire department personnel.

NBC Chicago is now reporting that at least 15 people were injured into the crash, which happened near Terminal 1 of the airport. The driver of the bus was pinned during the crash and was rescued by an airport employee and a firefighter, who witnessed the crash on his way to work.

NBC also says that another firefighter, also on his way to work, immediately rushed to the bus and began assisting injured passengers.

Fire officials say that 4 people were transported in critical condition, 5 in fair-to-serious condition, and 4 in good condition. Two people reportedly refused treatment.

It is not known at this time why the bus crashed.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is received.
