'Harry Potter's' Diagon Alley opens to thousands of muggles in Florida

Muggles! It's open!

Thousands lined up to be the first guests welcomed to walk down Diagon Alley at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Florida on July 8. This expansion from Hogsmeade at the Islands of Adventure has finally debuted after four years in development.

Confetti and fireworks ushered in the grand opening to "London" with a red carpet lined with cheering Diagon Alley team members at 8 a.m.

With all eyes on The Escape from Gringotts ride, the area surrounding Carkitt Market reportedly filled to capacity in mere seconds.

"The Escape from Gringotts wait time reached 150 minutes instantly, but ballooned to 450 minutes by the middle of the day," reports Theme Park Tourist. "In case you were wondering, you could watch the first three 'Harry Potter' films in the time it would take to get through that queue!"

The enchanting "Singing Sorceress" herself, "Celestina Warbeck," performed mid-day for those patrons who allegedly gave up on waiting in line for the mysterious ride. Warbeck is backed daily by the "Banshees."

Wands of Gregorovitch sells the same wands as Olivanders, however, seemingly isn't as popular. Oh, and The Hopping Pot is now serving up its freshest batch of Wizard's Brew ... if you're thirsty.

"The dragon breathed fire every 30 minutes or so, and guests almost always erupted in thunderous applause when it did," further reports Theme Park Tourist. "Fun detail: there is an enchanted tea kettle near the dragon. Watch as it boils when the dragon breathes fire in its direction!"

Tickets are now available to purchase to travel aboard the Hogwarts Express and visit both magical lands of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
