TLC's "Cake Boss" star is back in the kitchen after a terrifying Friday night.
After dinner across the harbor, Buddy "Cake Boss" Valastro prepared to take his wife, another couple and nine young children back home on his 32-foot Boston Whaler in the New York Harbor on July 11. However, heavy fog set in and Valastro needed to signal for help.
"The vessel was lost in thick fog in Ambrose Channel, a busy shipping channel that put it in danger of colliding with large commercial ships," reports CNN. "Valastro said they were lost [for] about 20 minutes before he called for help."
"My wife was flipping," Valastro shares with CNN. "I couldn't pick a worse bunch of people to be on the boat stuck in the fog with. All the kids were under 10 years old ... then my wife and my friend's wife and my friend ... After we got rescued, we started joking and having some fun. But it was no joke. "
Want to thank my friends at the nypd and FDNY for coming to help me in my family stuck in the fog in… http://t.co/ONzochv4Dv— Buddy Valastro (@CakeBossBuddy) July 12, 2014
Valastro's boat was towed by New York fire and police department units to Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City, N.J.
"I want to bake them a cake," Valastro further tells CNN.
