CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Many Southwest Floridians are reacting to the president's prime time speech Tuesday night.
President Obama says diplomacy is the key to remove the threat of chemical weapons in Syria.
He is conditionally endorsing a Russian offer for international inspectors to seize and destroy the deadly weapons.
The president also said he would be prepared for a military strike against Syrian president Bashar Al Assad if diplomacy fails.
As Obama tries to win the support of Americans, many viewers say they're pleased with the president's speech.
Carol posted on Facebook, "I appreciate that the president gets lots of information from many sources before making decisions....not sure I trust either Russia or Assad tho..."
Brian wrote,"Like it or not, at least there is some forward movement in addressing these atrocities."
Still, David from Cape Coral isn't convinced. "We have fought enough of other country's battles. We need to concentrate on our own country and let's figure out what the problems are here."
Marjorie from Punta Gorda does not want to see the U.S. get involved.
"Absolutely not! Do not put our responsibility there."
